One of the most recognised people fighting against the horrific act of Manual Scavenging is Shri Bezwada Wilson, who is a Ramon Magsaysay award winner. He is one of the founders and National Convenor of the Safai Karmachari Andolan (SKA). His work at SKA has been recognized by the Ashoka Foundation which has nominated him a Senior Fellow.
I hosted a fundraiser event for this cause on Sunday, 21st August, 2022. The event featured Shri Bezwada Wilson as the speaker, and the funds raised (click here to see the donation page) were donated to the SKA post the event. Below is a video of a short recap of the event.
